Book Rental Scheme letter 2014/15

St.Brigid’s National School, Cortown, Kells, Co.Meath
School Book Rental Scheme Arrangements 2014/2015.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Thank you for your speedy response to our previous letter regarding the book rental scheme. Please note that the scheme is voluntary. Book lists are attached detailing what is covered under the Book Rental Scheme and what is not.

An annual rental charge of €45 per year will apply in addition to a security deposit of €20. The payment of both charges will secure the rental of all relevant text books and workbooks listed in the book list as and when required throughout the school year. Purchase of homework diaries, atlas, dictionaries, spelling books, disposable materials and stationery will remain outside the scope of this scheme and remain the responsibility of the parent (as per attached booklist).

The security deposit of €20 is payable on behalf of each student who joins the scheme. This deposit carries forward to the following year if all books are returned in good condition at the end of the school year. The security deposit will be held against the safe return of all textbooks (excluding workbooks) rented to pupils under the scheme. If books are lost or damaged, a percentage or all of this deposit will be retained to cover such loss or damage. Full compensation for lost/ damaged books will be required before re-admission to the scheme for future years. However, this deposit will be returned should a pupil leave the scheme having safely returned all the rented books in an acceptable condition of use.

The books supplied under the scheme will remain the property of the school and may be subject to inspection at any time by a member of the Parent’s Association/ Book Rental Scheme Committee. Books supplied under the scheme may be new or second hand at the discretion of the Parent’s Association/ Book Rental Scheme Committee.

Second hand books may be donated or sold at up to 40% of their current market value. However, please do not send in books for sale unless you are satisfied that the books are in very good condition and suitable for re-use. The final decision rests with the Parent’s Association/ Book Rental Scheme Committee.

P.T.O

If you are donating books currently in use/ those you believe may be used in the following year, a donation box will be left in the Secretary’s office from June 23rd- June 27th. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Anyone who wishes to sell books may do so by coming to the school on Wednesday 25th June from 7-8 p.m. or by contacting a member of the PA or the Deputy Principal on or before this date.

To qualify for admission to the scheme, the deposit and rental charge for each child must be paid on or before June 20th 2014 (final date).

Please complete the form below and return it with the appropriate amount if you wish for your child(ren) to participate in the Book Rental Scheme. The money (cash only) should be paid on or before 20th June by putting the money into the attached envelope and placing it in the letter box outside the Secretary’s office.

Please remember that completion and return of both the form below and your payment of the rental fee and security deposit in full (i.e. €65 total per child) on or before this date are necessary in order for your child to be eligible for this scheme. Partial payments will not be accepted.
